Wayward Journeys

Stephanie JaneiroHi there! My name is Stephanie Janeiro, and I am the newest member of the TaylorMade Experience team.

I started at TME in May of 2013 as an intern during the summer between my first and second years of earning my MBA. Any MBA student will tell you that internships are a key aspect of professional development.

A career in event management was never in my sights growing up, but I am most definitely glad that it is what I have decided on. As many of you can probably relate to, my life thus far has taken numerous unexpected hairpin turns. I found myself sitting on a couch in China preparing to return home after two years abroad, making a list of pros and cons of potential career paths (law school, international business, culinary school, or event management). It was time to get serious with my life!

Through humble scribbles on a piece of scrap paper, I decided that work enjoyment was more important to me than the financial gain associated with it. I am OCD about organization (my own and others’), and I love the satisfaction of being part of a behind-the-scenes team at an event, making someone else’s vision become reality.

And that was how I ended up in grad school, earning my MBA at American University and pursuing several internships in event management, including my most recent one at TME which has turned into a full-time job that I just love!

And to share with you a little about me and my silliness, here are some fun facts:

  • Though I am not a shy, quiet person, if you asked me what I wanted to do this weekend, my (often unspoken) response would be to curl up at home with a good book. Think Harry Potter/fantasy/magic/princesses with an occasional nonfiction book by authors such as Malcolm Gladwell and Michael Pollan.
  • I LOVE big dogs. You can’t even imagine how much. If I could have a Bernese Mountain Dog, my life would be complete.
  • Embracing my teasable nature was one of the best things that I ever did. I will now join you in teasing me, and we will all laugh together!
  • I would be in school forever if I could. I thrive on learning, and I hope that it will always be a part of my life, even if it’s not in a classroom setting.

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to the road ahead and many successful events planned at TME.
