How Our After Action Meeting and Reports Benefit Your Events

The guests have left and the doors are closed, and after months of planning, your event is over. You may think it’s time to move on to the next project, but we’re not done just yet.

Now is the perfect time for Taylor Made Experience’s (TME) After Action Meeting and Report: our comprehensive event report and debrief meeting that follows a week or two after an event. We do this for every event and believe it is a huge part of our clients’ success.

Here’s what our clients can look forward to with our After Action meeting and reports:

Starts with highlights

First things first: we always lead with the highlights or successes of the event. No matter what issues arose; we begin our After Actions with a positive comment. The goal is to examine what worked and why it worked so well, in order to replicate those successes for future events.

Provides multiple points of view

When we’re writing our After Action report, we include feedback from every staff member and volunteer at the event. An event manager will have a clear idea of the big picture, but supporting team members will have more detail to provide on specific parts of the event. We collect all of this feedback in the days immediately following the event, and use it to target specific issues.

Makes everything comprehensive

Our After Action reports include comments on everything from the committee meetings that happen before the event to registration and venue parking the day of. Showing how every facet of the event happened helps us to find the weaknesses and strengths in the process. Clients find this feedback invaluable for future planning.

Offers constructive feedback

For every problem addressed in the After Action, we include a suggestion to improve for next year. Even in places where everything ran smoothly, we provide suggestions for how to build on that success.

Starts the discussion for next year

We close every After Action meeting with all the things we have to look forward to for the next event and use the opportunity to start discussing new ideas. This generates motivation for the team to start working on improvements. Many times this has sparked some really creative ideas we’ve implemented in following events.

After Action reports are an excellent way to close an event productively and positively. If you’re curious to find out more, let us know. We’d be more than happy to share the full scope of our After Action meeting and reports.
