Giving Thanks: Why We Live a Life of Gratitude

As we say goodbye to 2015 and welcome in the New Year, we love to take this time to acknowledge and appreciate everything we have in our lives. The sentiment of giving thanks is very important to us, and it’s something that we’ve made a cornerstone of TaylorMade Experience. In fact, we do a bunch of things to express gratitude throughout the year, including:

  • We bring treats to meetings to surprise our clients with something sweet!
  • We always send handwritten thank-you notes and a thank-you gift following a big project or event.
  • Internally, I thank my staff by doing quarterly spa days. We do mani/pedis, massages, and facials to rejuvenate as a thank-you for their hard work.

While gratitude is a natural part of our business and our lives, there are many reasons why appreciation is so important. In fact, by choosing to live a life of gratitude, you can improve many aspects of your day-to-day life.

Valuing what we have and increasing happiness

It’s easy to take all the blessings we have in our lives for granted—but forgetting how fortunate we are only serves to increase stress, envy, and disappointment.

To counteract these feelings here at TME, we start our days by stating something positive that we’re thankful for in our daily meetings. The positive statements which are shared by each staff member help us take stock of what we appreciate in our lives. It’s wonderful to take a step back and acknowledge the things we are fortunate enough to have.

Forming new relationships and deepening existing ones

When someone takes the time to say “thank you,” and expresses some form of gratitude it can brighten your whole day. The simple expression can make you feel like the effort you put in was worth it and strengthens your sense of connection to that person. Always take the time to let the people in your life know how much you appreciate them—whether it’s your closest loved ones or the coffee shop barista.

According to Forbes, living a life of gratitude can also:

  • Improve self-esteem
  • Increase mental strength
  • Help you sleep better
  • Enhance empathy
  • Reduce aggression
  • Improve psychological and physical health

With the new year approaching, we want to take this time to say thank you to our wonderful clients and business partners. We value and appreciate everything you do, and couldn’t make it through the year without you. So, from our family to yours, thank you and happy New Year!
